Hello there! I’m Matthew Shaffer. I am a database developer and web developer. My current position is as a software developer at PrimeCare Technologies. I work on the primeVIEW team. We develop and maintain a web-based management dashboard for long term care facilities that pulls in and aggregates data from remote systems and summarize it in a single place.
Long term care facilities often lag in terms of technology for data management and will use spreadsheets and paper records for tracking vital facility info and calculations. Additionally, they have multiple systems for storing vital data, electronic health care software, labor software, payroll software, etc. that do not integrate or talk to each other. primeVIEW scraps this data from customer systems, bring it together in one place, and works to make sense of key trends and data points.
My work on this project gives me experience in a wide range of areas. I work in small team and that means being partially responsible for all aspects of the product. I work as a web developer writing front-end pages that consume and display data, and as a back-end SQL developer writing the code that retrieves, calculates, and sends that data. I am involved in writing the processes that pull data from remote systems using direct SQL connections, file parsing, or API calls. I am responsible for maintaining data integrity and ensuring that database jobs to retrieve data function properly. Whenever there is a bug in the data, or a new feature request, I need to always be ready to deal with it.
